Large Limpet shell

This large limpet shell measures approximetly 25mm by 30mm. It is cast in silver clay and fired in my kiln. Silver clay is made from tiny particles of fine silver and made into a clay with a binder. Once the clay has been formed it can then be dried before being fired. 

The finished fine silver can be hallmarked as 999 for fine silver. It is 99.9% fine silver. Since hallmarking incurs an extra cost I do not hallmark unless the piece weighs over 7.78g, as required by law in the UK.

This piece although on the larger size is still under the weight required to be hallmarked.
